How To Ollie with Mark Hanson!

It’s been almost 3 years since I first made my How To Ollie vid, and in some weird processing glitch, the video quality got all chopped up. Beyond that, I have my newer camera, and there’s always been a couple things that bugged me about that vid (wording), so I was planning on making a new version down the line at some point. That point is now! And I’d really like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who watches my videos. Thanks to everyone’s participation I enjoy coming on here every day, answering pm’s, checking my comments etc… You guys make this possible, and you’re awesome because of it. I’m still gonna be making another couple trick tip vids coming up, probably on Saturday. The first will be how to bs shove it, and I might do a couple 180 videos. Again, cheers to everyone watching, and looking forward to the future!

The ollie is pretty much the most basic trick of modern skateboarding, so knowing it, is pretty much mandatory. That is if you want to be able to do anything else. A couple fun facts, the ollie was invented by Alan “Ollie” Gelfand. And it was Rodney Mullen who adapted the “Ollie” to flatland skateboarding. Which led to him creating ever so many flip tricks.

This guy “Pearso” wrote up a massive Ollie explanation on this forum. You should check it out if you’re still having trouble.

Also, I’d just like to help advertise Hello Beautiful, they’re a smaller band in Ontario. Here’s the Myspace, check them out if you’d like.

Skateboarding 10 points to best answer real fast?

Skateboarding 10 points to best answer real fast?

im 5"6-5"8 and was looking for a board. I found a Baker Board with royal trucks, 52mm Baker Logo Stacked wheels and the board is 6.75 inches in width. Is this ok for my height. also my shoe size is 9.5-10 if it matters

the board would be fine for you, as long as its not to heavy for ollies, or such tricks, the board should suit you.

What is up with all these people asking what skateboard equipment to get?

People need to get stuff from companies they support, not based on how good the reviews are. If any pro company made crappy equipment, peoswouldn’t ride for them and they would have gone out of business.

People want to know what they like and how well they perform. Why would you want to risk wasting money on crap when you could spend your money on something that you know is of good quality.

Is rollerblade safety gear safe for use in skateboarding?

Would http://www.citysports.com/Rollerblade-Pro-3-Package-Adult-Protective-Kit/126595/Product work?

I wouldn’t use it! They would be better than nothing and might be good enough if you are not doing any stunts but if you are concerned, you should go with a set designed for aggressive skating/skateboarding.
Aggressive pads cover more of your hand and other parts, and are designed to not shift when you hit them hard.

I am primarily a fitness skater and strongly prefer the aggressive gloves over the splint style wrist guards in that set. They cover the sides and back of the hand better and they are more flexible for picking up or holding things.
I rarely wear elbow or knee pads because i think they are uncomfortable.
I have seen people who hit wrong and had knee pads shift. many stitches to put the flap of skin back on the knee.

my brother wants this skateboard but i just want to make sure its worth the money!
so what do you think of it?!

thanks(:

it looks cool and all but if u gonna grind or do tricks the lights would prob break…if u wanna spend $100 go to ccs and get a www.ccs.com complete deck

Recommend me some skateboarding gear?

Okay, I’m 15 and used to skate when I was about 9 or 10 but I never got anywhere with it, I just messed around. I’m thinking about starting skating again but taking it a bit more serious and trying to learn tricks. This question is aimed at skaters who are good at skating and know what they’re talking about.

I’m looking to built a skateboard and I’d like a bit of help choosing a decent deck, trucks & wheels etc. I don’t want anything too cheap / rubbish as I don’t want to have to keep upgrading if I get better.

P.S. I’m in the UK, also if you know any good websites to buy skating stuff from in the UK please let me know.

Thanks.
Thanks but that’s a US site..

SK84LIFE Bro.

DECK:
I’ve been skating a element deck quite some time, and i seriously recommend them. I’d go for an Iron Fist/Plan B deck too, your choice. The brand of the deck won’t really vary your ability to perform tricks and shit (unless you buy a cheap-ass board), it’s more the shape, size and weight you have to factor in. Study the boards in your local skate shops and look for a nice deck, even ask the okes in the shop, most of them will have some kind of skate knowledge. Anything under about 25pounds will not be of the highest quality.

TRUCKS:
Also element/iron fist – preferably something strong, but also light weight.

WHEELS/BEARINGS:
Wheels aren’t a major issue, just try to avoid the fat, wide wheels. Just stick to popular brands.
For the bearings i’d go for either abec7/abec9 even. Although even abec3 can be quite fast. Not such a big deal, as long as they turn.

Get whatever grip tape you like, something with a sick design/logo is always a treat icon wink Recommend me some skateboarding gear?

Hope this helps
Peace
