I wanna buy some safety gear for when i go skateboarding, but i dont wanna waste that much money so i was wondering which one of these is more important or crucial to wear when skating? A helmet, elbow pads or knee pads.
Well, if your going to skate. Helmet’s out of the question, it will just get in the way, it’s more for BMX’ers anyway.
There’s not safety equipment crucial really. I find my knee’s are the worst of for me. But then again so are my arms.
I suggust knee pad’s with jeans over the top.

I’m PLANNING to buy a skateboard. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to choose your board, and what the gears needed are in skateboarding? Thanks.
If you have a local skate shop it is probably best to start there, if you give them a sensible budget they should be able to help.
The basics are:
1, Canadian maple pressed deck. It doesn’t have to cost the earth, they should start around £25.
2, Trucks are probably the least important if you are beginning as they will not be put under any huge stress so if you are on a budget this is where to go for the lowest price. Obviously if your budget allows then spend more as this will mean you don’t have to change them as you progress.
3, Wheels start around £20, I wouldn’t go any less than that.
4, Bearings should cost around £10 – £15. You should get ABEC 7 or ABEC 9 bearings (ABEC is a quality guide not a make)
5, Griptape should preferably be Jessops, but most stores provide decent stuff.
Bolts start around £2.
