How to Tre Flip (360 Flip) a Skateboard, by Uptown Skate School
Hi – My name is David Willis from Uptown Skate School and I’m here with my friend Ryan Santiago and he’s going to show you how to do a 360 kickflip, also known as a tre flip.
Tre Flip Position
For a tre flip, what you want to do is you want to put your back foot – and you want to put your toes hanging off a little bit – right where it starts to curve. When you first learn, you want to put your front foot close together so you actually get the spin. And once you start getting them down you want to move your foot up more and more – and the higher your foot is up, the more control you have over it. You might flip a little bit slower but it’s easier to control it.
How to Tre Flip
As you’re popping down, the whole thing’s with your back foot – just scoop back behind you with your back foot, and you do a little kick out the front. You don’t need to kick too hard – just your ankle – and it will start to rotate like that. It’s pretty much like a scissor kick: once your back foot goes behind you, your front foot goes in front of you. And then you land it.
How to Practice a Tre Flip
Don’t ever practice them stationary. Just practice it moving – because once you get them moving, then you’ll get them stationary. It’s weird, but that’s what happens.
Common Tre Flip Problems
A problem that a lot of people have is that either the board goes in front of them or the board goes behind them. It’s usually because you’re leaning too far forward or too far back, and if it over-flips, just don’t kick as hard. When you first learn them you might just start doing varial flips and it will keep hitting you – you just have to work out how to scoop with your back foot to get it all the way around. You don’t even have to worry about the flip, just worry about the scoop until it spins all the way.

History
Flip Skateboards originally started in the UK in the early 1990s as a sister company to Death Box Skateboards and the successor to Bash Skateboards.
The original team was Christian Heitmann as their first pro. Elton Whybrow, Chris Weinekker, Ivan Jenson, and Luke McKirdy made up the rest of the group.[1]
Flip moved from the UK to California in July 1994, Jeremy Fox, Ian Deacon, and Geoff Rowley were the first to arrive, team riders Tom Penny, Rune Glifberg moved in 95. At this point the team consisted of four pros – Tom Penny, Geoff Rowley, Rune Glifberg and Andy Scott
The company went on to become one of the world’s biggest and most well known skateboard companies.[citation needed]
Four members have won the prestigious Thrasher Skater of the Year Award: Bob Burnquist in 1997 (though he was sponsored by Anti-Hero at the time), Geoff Rowley in 2000, Arto Saari in 2001, and Mark Appleyard in 2003. Mark also won best street skater in Transworld skateboarding magazine.[citation needed]
Notable team members include Mark Appleyard, Bob Burnquist, Rune Glifberg, Lance Mountain, Tom Penny, and Geoff Rowley. Other riders include Ali Boulala, Luan Oliveria, Rodrigo TX, David Gonzalez. Am riders include Curren Caples, Louie Lopez, Andrew Langi, Ben Nordberg and Willow.

Flip’s video effort helped set the tone for street skateboarding videos of the 2000s. Starting with Mark Appleyard with a tons of hammers like the kickflip bs five-0 to the hubba, backside heelflip the sacramento 3-flat-3flat-3 excellent. Followed by Ali part the extravaganza skateboarding or “handrail manifiesto” so clearly that is another style, the main hammer is the 25 ollie attempt. Chalmers is next so great board control in that bowl, he can just go so high with this mini-ramps. Bastien Salabanzi, the young kid from Congo, a huge ripper and a nice 16 stair kickflip fs boardslide at the end. Rune Glifberg other great part plus he is the only that skate huge ramps, next is the lost Tom Penny in a mini ramp montage. The end of the video is with Tom Penny and Arto Saari with a huge Tom Penny comeback and a cammed Arto Saari from coma after a huge bail.
